Safe Removal of Fuel and Contaminated Water
InterGroup was engaged by Naylor Love after a buried tank was uncovered during works at the Fisher & Paykel site in Auckland.
The tank was found to contain a mixture of fuel and water, requiring the contents to be safely removed before the tank could be lifted from the excavation. Our team deployed a 3A vacuum truck to remove the hazardous liquid, which was transported to an InterGroup liquid waste facility for treatment and disposal.
Specialist Cold Cutting and Tank Removal
Once emptied, InterGroup used specialist cold cutting methods to create suitable lifting points on the tank, allowing it to be safely removed from the excavation by crane.
Cold cutting avoided the heat and sparks associated with conventional hot work, providing a safer method in a potentially fuel-contaminated environment.
Following removal, InterGroup coordinated the cleaning of the tank and its final disposal through a scrap metal facility.
The project brought together our hazardous waste management, vacuum loading and specialist cold cutting capabilities, providing Naylor Love with an end-to-end solution from initial liquid removal through to final disposal.
